The Olympics

☆Competition: an organized event in which people try to win a prize by being the best, fastest, etc:
☆Formal: used about clothes, language, and behaviour that are serious and not friendly or relaxed:
☆Continent: one of the seven main areas of land on the Earth, such as Asia, Africa, or Europe

[1]The Olympic game is International sports tournaments with thousands of players every
continent gathered in summer and winter sports every 2 years
Today’s Olympic Games began in the 8th century BC in greece Olympiad
1st Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, in 1896, was held.

[2]Taekwondo is a sport that the hands and feet.
Taekwondo began in Korea and is a popular sport in the Olympics
because taekwondo of foot techiques cheered the people
the korea have a lot of titles in taekwondo

[3]In a speed skating, it is a competition which skaters wear skate on the ice. It is one of the oldest competition of the winter Olympics and it became a formal competition when 1924 winter Olympics host in France. There are some kinds of competitions such as 500m, 1,000m, 1,500m, 5,000m, 10,000m for men and 500m, 1,000m, 1,500m, 3,000m, 5,000 for women. In korea, Lee seung-hun is a famous skater. He won a medal in 5,000m in Vancouver olmypics in 2010, it is the first medal in asia. And Mo tae-bum is also famous skater who won a gold medal in 500m.

[4]Figure skating‘s current form is originated in the mid-19th century.
Figure skating is a sport and activity in which perform on figure skates on ice. The four Olympic disciplines are men’s singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Now, The most famous figure skate player is Kim yean-a. She is from Korea and she is born in 1990.

In soccer, it is different from the world cup. In the Olympics, all soccer players are younger than 23. But each country can participate 3 soccer players who are more than 23. It is called wild card. Wild cards are chance to use soccer players who are older than 23, but only to a maximum of 3. Park ji-sung is one of the famous soccer player in korea.

In a marathon, it is a competition that runners run 42.195km. It is originated that when one of the Greece soldier run 40km to notice that Greece win at the war after then he dead. In Korea, Son gi-jung is a famous runner who won a gold medal at Berlin Olympics in1936. But he participate marathon when korea is coloned by japan. But Hwang young-jo won a gold medal at Barcellona Olympics in 1992. It is 56 years after when Song gi-jung won a gold medal.

2018 Olympic Winter Games will be held in Pyeongchang South Korea. It is the second time host in korea. We wish to creat a good image to foreign country and this opportunity would be develop our country.
