    • You were absent too many times and thus received a final score of 0/F.

      Comment by richardlstansfield — June 19, 2013 @ 1:52 pm | Reply

      • I don’t understand about that. I want to talk to you. When can i meet you?

        Comment by 임동선 — June 20, 2013 @ 2:12 am

      • Do you remember my syllabus? You get an F if you are absent for 12 hours. Hours, not classes.

By my records, you were absent on the following days:

        April 3rd (2 hours)

        April 5th

        April 10th (2 hours)

        April 12th

        May 8th (2 hours)

        May 15th (2 hours)

        May 29th (2 hours)

Together, that adds up to 12 hours.

I know that it must be disappointing to receive an F. I can sympathize with you.

If you have any documents that can excuse any of your absences (for example, a doctor’s note), it is too late to give them to me. However, you could try giving them to the University English (UE) office, 5남434B. Good luck, and take care.

        Comment by 강도원 — June 19, 2013 @ 3:59 pm

      • You and your partner should have paid more attention to my guidelines for the Final Speaking Test. You were supposed to do four (4) different conversations, using four questions from the list and all of the conversation strategies that I taught you.

  6. Thanks for your kindness, professor.

By the way, can i know my too low speaking test score??

I’m so perplexed because I really worked hard for my speaking test.

This class is my second University English class. Please have mercy on my speaking test score.

Frankly speaking, I really want to know why my score is too low.

For example, Was our script too short? Or too loose?? I’m so frustrated because of my low acore.

    Please consider again for me?

    • Look again at my post on the Final Speaking Test. In all four conversations, you and your partner had to use phrases to begin a conversation (“Excuse me. Are you a friend of Sally’s?”) and end a conversation (“Well, I should be going.”). I went over that so many times, and in so many different ways, in class. You also had to use clarifications with question words (“Excuse me? We have to go where?”). Your partner used clarifications with question words, which is why he got a higher score on the Final Speaking Test than you did. I made it clear in my post that you and your partner had to use the Conversation Strategies that I taught in class. The example conversations in my post also made that clear.

  9. Thank you for answering the question. But I thought that written test #2 is perpect. I think there are something mistake about my written test #2 score. Why did you give me 16 marks?

    Comment by 이현석 — June 26, 2013 @ 6:35 am | Reply

    • No, there was no mistake. Maybe you thought you got a perfect score, but you didn’t. You made three mistakes and thus got 16/19. By the way, it’s spelled “perfect”, not “perpect”.

    • I don’t give grades (e.g. A, B, etc.). I only give a number out of 80. If you have a question about the number out of 80, I can answer that.

  11. Hello professor. I’m Patrick , 신명기 in class 121!
How are you doing these days ?

My main e-mail purpose is my total grade.
I know that I didn’t well at the mid-term test.
but I got a 75.6 point in final mark.
I know the grade is the sixth of thirty students in class 121.
of course, I’m not unsatisfied with my current grade. but I was a little expected to get a A0.
I think that I studied hard with my group friends, learning to you.
If My total grade, 88.6 has no big difference compared to A0 students, I want you to raise my grade to A0.
if it is impossible, I want to know why I got a B+. for example, The reason is mid-term test.

Have a nice summer vacation !
and Thank you for your teaching during my first univ semester.

bye bye. reference) I also send this same content to your mail a moment ago.
