Final Marks and Other Information

Filed under: announcements — richardlstansfield @ 7:37 am

Find your final mark by looking below, under your class number.

The first number is your student ID number. The second number is your mark out of 80. Your mid-term exam is out of 20. Add the two numbers together to get a number out of 100.

Example:

Hyorin’s student ID# is 12345678. She had a mid-term exam score of 15/20. Under her class number, she finds:

12345678, 60.5

So her mark out of 100 is 75.5 (15/20 + 60.5/80 = 75.5/100).

More about the Final Speaking Test

Filed under: final speaking exam — richardlstansfield @ 9:11 am

 Do not miss your appointment!
I only have one week to test all of my students, so I cannot reschedule. So if you miss your appointment, you miss the test, and you get 0 out of 30%. Also, you will be marked absent for the whole week (3 hours).

 Do not be late!
You and your partner only have 10 minutes for this test. That is only 5 minutes for each student. It is worth 30% of your final grade. So, for every minute you are late, you will lose 6 marks.
If your partner is not there, go into the room anyway. Do not be late because of your partner. (I will do the test with you alone.)

 Do not wait for your partner. If your partner is late, Mr. Stansfield will be your partner. Tell Mr. Stansfield:
– if you are Student A or Student B in the telephone conversations.
– what items you will describe, and what items you want to be described to you.
– what questions you want to answer.

 Wait inside the classroom.

 Don’t speak too slowly or too quickly.

 Don’t speak too quietly. (You don’t have to be loud. Just be loud enough for your partner and I to hear you easily.)

 Don’t hesitate or pause.

e.g. “I like … ummm … Halloween best because … uhh … you can put on a … 뭐지? … costume and go to a … 뭐라고? … party.”

If you are trying to remember something, then say, “Let me think …”

 When answering a discussion question from the list (from the class presentations):
– answer with complete sentences.
– give some details.

You can improve your answer by adding:

– your opinion
(“In my opinion, Halloween is the best holiday for children.”)

– reasons why
(” … because children love the sweet taste of candy.”)

– examples
(“For example, chocolate bars or peppero sticks.”)

– a short story
(“When I was young, I went out trick-or-treating and got peppero sticks. Since they were my favorite candy, I was very happy.”)

——————–

Example: Which holiday do you like best?

“F”-quality answer

“Halloween.”

“D”-quality answer

“I like Halloween best.”

“C”-quality answer

“I like Halloween best because you can put on a costume and go to a party.”

“B”-quality answer

I like Halloween best because you can put on a costume and go to a party. You can also go trick-or-treating and get candy.

“A”-quality answer

I like Halloween best because you can put on a costume and go to a party. You can also go trick-or-treating and get candy. In my opinion, Halloween is the best holiday for children because children love the sweet taste of candy. For example, chocolate bars or peppero sticks. When I was young, I went out trick-or-treating and got peppero sticks. Since they were my favorite candy, I was very happy.

 If you are doing the test without a partner, tell Mr. Stansfield:
– if you are Student A or Student B in the telephone conversations.
– what items you will describe, and what items you want to be described to you.
– what questions you want to answer.
