* Your friend Michael is having difficulty with his studies. He is having trouble organizing his time. He asks you, “What should I do?”

Task 2: Describe Two Objects

Describe two objects. You can describe a TV (television), a flashlight, a radio, a microwave oven, a hammer, a vacuum cleaner, a shopping trolley, or something else.

You can mention the following:

Student: I was outside at 1:30.
Teacher: So why didn’t you come inside and take your exam?
Student: I don’t know.
Teacher: I don’t know either.

* So, for the final speaking exam:

– come early, and
– come inside and wait.

The teacher will not go outside and call you to come it. You should be inside the classroom when it is time for your exam.

Information Updates: Speaking Test

Filed under: final speaking exam — richardlstansfield @ 1:41 am

– You cannot read (of course!).

– Please wait inside the classroom.

– It’s a good idea to write your script. If your partner is late or does not come, you will start on time with Mr. Stansfield. Mr. Stansfield will be your partner and you can get full marks.

– Don’t speak too softly or too loudly. Speak loudly enough for your partner and Mr. Stansfield to hear you clearly.

– Don’t speak too slowly or hesitate or pause too much. (e.g. “I like … ummm … Halloween best because … uhh … you can put on a … 뭐지? … costume and go to a … 뭐라고? … party.”) If you are thinking or trying to remember something, you can use the phrase “Let me think …”

– When you answer a discussion question, you should use complete sentences and give some details.

– In the Telephone Conversation, you must be Student A in both conversations, or Student B in both conversations. However, in the two short conversations, you and your partner take turns starting the conversation. In other words, you will be Student A in one conversation, and Student B in the other.

More about Final Speaking Exam

* Do not miss your appointment!
I only have one week to test all of my students, so I can’t reschedule. So if you miss your appointment, you miss the test, and you get 0 out of 30 points. Also, you will be marked absent for the whole week (3 hours).

* Arrive a few minutes early.

* Wait inside the classroom, not outside in the hall. So, be in the classroom a few minutes early.

* Do not be late! I will start the test on time. For every minute that you are late, you will lose 6 marks out of 30. Also, if you miss a section (e.g. the two conversations), then you will receive zero (0) for that section.

* Do not wait for your partner to arrive. Go inside the classroom and wait.

* If your partner does not arrive in time, Mr. Stansfield will act as your partner.
(Because of this, you should have your script written out in case of emergency.)

* There must be two different conversations. Don’t do the same conversation twice.

* Two different questions must be asked. Don’t ask each other the same question.

* When answering a discussion question from the list (from the class presentations):
– answer with complete sentences.
– give some details.

* Don’t speak too quietly. (You don’t have to be loud. Just be loud enough for your partner and I to hear you easily.)

* Don’t hesitate or pause.
e.g. “I like … ummm … Halloween best because … uhh … you can put on a … 뭐지? … costume and go to a … 뭐라고? … party.”
If you are trying to remember something, then say, “Let me think …”
